Slightly Confused?!

Hello,

I have just registered and have been going through the site all night looking at all the tuts and downloads and when I came to the layer styles and saw the styles from Shelly Long I was thrilled to see that she had them (ALL) as freeware (they are beautiful). However when I clicked on the download link, it started to go to the .zip file but instead took a detour and stalled on the home page. This happened with every one of the files I attempted to download.

My question is: Do I have to do anything special in order to access these files for download?

P.S.
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

You should not have to do anything special. Most likely you have your security too high or you're using Norton's Internet Security?

According to M0g, the download gateway is pretty sensitive to such things. I believe he's in the process of looking for a better one that will get along with such things.

Possibly you could disable NIS for a minute or two while you downloaded her styles then enable it again? Or I guess try back in a few days? *shrug*

I disabled NIS and it worked like a charm.

Now I have one more question if you wouldn't mind? Is there somewhere to go to learn how to make brushes and styles?

With a little help from scrowler and some half-assed coding from myself i've changed the fundamental way that the downloads gateway works. Instead of relying on referrer information (blocked by NIS), it now works on sessions, which only function if you've viewed Biorust first. This should keep out the hotlinkers whilst letting in those who have had issues before with the old system (sessions are serverside, and there is nothing that CAN be blocked).

Anyway, let me know what you think. Does it work... not work, etc?
