Tutorials & Versions

I've been gandering at the tutorials. Only a few state the version of Photoshop it's good for.
One of my question is, if there is no version listed does that mean it's good for all versions?
Another question is, if I download and install a plug-in that was made for version 6 on my computer and try to use it in my version 5.5, what will happen? Crash? A popup saying it's not compatible? Will the Lights Go Out In Georgia?

Thanks for any replies.

i expect the photoshop tutorials would work on photoshop 7 or later, but you can try it on version 6, anything below you might be missing some crucial features.

it probably won't work, simply. you can try it though.

All tutorials should work in v5.5 or greater. If there is a tutorial that requires a special plugin only included after a certain revision, then this will be stated clearly at the start of the tutorial. (i.e. the 3D box tutorial, which uses the 3D transform tool so wierdly removed in PS-CS).

Much obliged for your replies.
I'm always so cautious. It's frustrating sometimes.
Again, thanks.

You're welcome! If you have any troubles just let me know and i'll check it out. It always helps to have people with different versions testing the tutorials...

I've been busy downloading brushes, actions, plugins, and some tutorials. Almost everything works fine on 5.5.
The ones that don't have a popup window that says they aren't compatable with my version of PS.

Thanks.

Perhaps this is something that m0g can consider adding to the tutorial system, perhaps a compatible version field, since even PHP sometimes lacks a feature that is in a newer version..

I dare say that such could be useful to most viewers.

Sounds like a good idea actually... I'll add it to my 'to do' list. Its getting rather long now...
