Where did they go? I spent ages doing my entry for the Background!

Hi Tamlin,

Can you tell me more about this (these) battle(s)? From what I can tell by looking at the raw database, the battle called Pieces To The Wallpaper Puzzle #1 expired 2 weeks after its creation, and then bypassed the voting phase because you were the only member to submit an entry.

Were you expecting this battle to remain around for a bit longer? I too was surprised to see them gone when I logged in this morning, so there could have been a timing glitch...

After I posted this, I did find my entry in the Archive section and I understand that it skipped the voting stage because I was the only entrant. I could have sworn, though, that there were still a few days left until both battles expired - I know Unleash and Supertackyman had both mentioned that they were planning to enter. I dunno though - maybe my sense of timing is off.

Can we like make the battle get back into submit state? So that I can enter my entry?

If not, shall we start a new battle that is exactly the same? Well maybe I will just start with my entry for the 3th and 4th battle than

odd... I too thought there was more time left because I was "thinking" about something to submit when I got time.

Well - I'm glad it's not just me!

I assume the Battles system bases its calculations on the system date/time of the server. Could that have been inadvertantly changed?

Well the consensus seems to be that the battle system appears to be at fault, but after doing an inspection of the code I have to say that I was unable to detect anything that could have led to the current situation. The database reports a creation date of January 20th for Pieces To The Wallpaper Puzzle #1, but I do agree this this sounds a bit strange. I could have sworn that this battle had popped up only a few days ago. On the other hand, all of the other battles seem to be doing just fine, so I'm completely puzzled.

I'll monitor the system somewhat more closely in the next few weeks, just in case I can find something.

In the meantime, perhaps the contest can be restarted?

Yeah, but you are the only entrant at the moment...

So I think it is more for you to decide if you find it fair if we "redo" the battle. I will also ask stiney, as it where indeed his battles (there were 2 right?). But I think you need to be fine with it before stiney can set the battle up...right?

ah well, I just hope my entry doesn't go unnoticed...

Well, yeah - it's fine by me, although I'll have to make a new entry - I can't really resubmit my original when it's already in the Battle archive.

Don't know if stiney is around here much at the moment - maybe someone should PM him about this.

Sorry guys I've been spending most of my free time working on a basement remodel at the house.

I resubmitted the background battle. Perhaps we need to take this one step at a time. :-)
