Question Battle Won/Rank Question

I have won 2 battles now by default. Although no one else entered I still put time and thought into my entries so I wonder why they do not show as wins and rank in the Your Participation Statistics area of the battle Overview page. This seems somewhat unfair to me. I wondered how others feel on the topic if it has happened to them and if it's possible to change the standing rule.

On a humorous tone.. wouldn't that kinda be like winning 1st place in a one man race?

I mean, if you're the only contestant, you're guaranteed to be both first place and last place, so you could say that they cancel each other out?

Anyways, Unleash i'm sure can shed some light on your question.

Mike.

Hey, why me?

well, it is like notjustgraphics said.....you didn't really battle, there where no votes and no competants.....so you haven't actually battled for the victory.

Then the time and effort, well someone(I don't say you)could lets say make a battle no one will enter, then he/she will upload a picture of a dot. and she/ he has an battle won in her/his ranking.

To stop that kind of things from happening mog decided that battles which aren't voted for doesn't count as won/ lost battles. And sometimes that means you're artwork won't be in the spotlight(post it in the gallery!!)

Well hope you can see the point now, that there is enough light......

My time and work is still valuable, at least to me. I think it's worth something. I don't see how it's my fault if no one else made an entry. I think it's obvious if someone puts work into something or just posts dots.

I think to this would discourage people from entering. If no one else bothers then you don't really get anything from trying to enter and support the site. Someone has to post first or you get a lot of people waiting for someone else to enter to see if there will be a battle.

I do agree with you that it this rule hits on both sides,

the side of the people who really put work in theire entry, and thats a shame. Really, and I never said you're work isn't valuable, i ment that you didn't compete and so you can't call it a battle.....

At the other side it also hits the side of people who wan't to get a higher ranking but doin't want to put any effort in it. So that's a good thing I think.
Now mog took a look at both things and decided that the hit on the lazy site was needed.

It seems to me that DAL has a valid point. After all, if two teams are scheduled to play a game of [insert favourite sport here] and one team doesn't show up, the other team wins "by default". Not exactly a "noble" win, but a win nonetheless.

Am I wrong in thinking that you get the same credit for a Battle Win as you do for posting in the gallery?

I agree that is is unfortunate, but in this case there were never two teams. If someone commits to the battle and then doesn't submit, then that might be different. Perhaps the solution would be to re-post the battle so DAL (or anyone else in this position) has a 2nd chance to encourage another participant.

All I'm saying is I think it discourages people from entering. I think you would get a lot of waiting for someone else to enter first so you don't end up doing a lot of work for a non-battle situation. Someone has to be brave enough to stick a toe in the water first. If no one else does I agree it's not a battle, there is no competition. Then again I cant force other people to enter so I think it kind of does penalize the person who did make an effort.

I would like to add I'm just mentioning what I think is a flaw in the system and not to criticize Biorust which I think is an excellent site

Dal...

please don't think we are taking your inquiry negatively...

you have a very valid point and this type of open dialogue will help to gather the popular opinion...

While I think we all agree BioRUST is an exceptional site and Man1c M0g has put a lot of time and effort into it's design and function, it's not perfect and of course never will be... not to everyone.

I'm sure Man1c will read this thread when he's got a break from RL and maybe he can suggest an alternative...

Any ideas Stripes?

Mike.

I agree,(with all of you). Maybe a compromise might work, no award if the single entrant goes unchallanged. However the battle should be reposted. If there are still no challangers then the members could vote on the one submission as to whether the effort warrants an unchallanged victory.

I don't know if this could be implemented, but it's a very good idea!
