*FINISHED* Layout Design Contest

*** This competition is now finished! ***

Ok, if you don't know already Bio-Rust now has a website template section in the Resources on the site. So, Now we need more templates. Thats where you come in. Make us the best, most flexible template you can. We want top-notch material. The contest ends July 12th. We don't need you to upload the whole site for judging. (but if you have a working example online that is fine.)

Just upload a snapshot to this gallery:

UPDATE: Wow, it was a tough contest, but it is my pleasure to announce that Ascendancy 9 is the winner of the layout contest with his eponymous entry, surpassing his nearest competition, Darky, by a single vote! Congrats m8, and wear your T-shirt with pride!

When making a generic template, do I need to:

1- include "blank" image buttons for the end user to label, or a slew of pre-made buttons?
2- make it CSS based?
3- Include several color options?

Do you have specific guidelines (pixel width, # of pages ... etc.) for BioRust templates?

... Just wondering.

I was thinking 750-800pixels wide but other than that no standards.

EDIT: I think M0g hit the hammer with the nail with his reply.\/\/\/

Hmmm. I can't really speak too much for Jimmy1012, but I'll assume the following answers to those questions:
  1. Blank or premade is fine. Whichever is easiest for you.
  2. Again, the basis is up to you. Extra points will be awarded by votees for flexibility though, and CSS seems the popular choice these days.
  3. It'll get you bonus points but, again, its other viewers you are trying to impress, so you may want to consider whether you want an uber flexible site with low load times, or a very fancy-looking site and less flexibility.

Oh, and before you think it - yes, I will be checking all entrants BEFORE the competition begins to ensure that the templates are real. So no submitting PSD solid images or copies of TemplateMonster templates, as you'll be found out quickly!

Nope, just kudos and the fun of entering. I wish I could offer prizes, but our advertising barely covers the cost of the server, so nothing of any substance can be offered. We may be able to get companies to donate prizes in future, but watch this space - they don't usually give stuff away for free.

So... it has been about two weeks since the competition finished. Is the judging complete?

Nope, I hadn't forgotten about it! As the deadline has passed for submissions to the Layout Design Contest I am happy to announce that voting has now started - So, get your butts on over to the official competition gallery and get voting! Its pretty tough competition this time, so every vote will count. The winner will be decided when voting is over in ONE WEEKS TIME. The eventual victor will receive a congratulatory pat on the back and a BioRUST t-shirt to go onto that aforementioned back. Yep... prizes!
