POV-Comp 2004

Looking for something totally different? Well then, you might be interested in POVCOMP 2004, an international free-to-enter competition with over $14,000 worth of prizes, including the ultimate dream graphics PC. All you have to do to enter is submit something using the POV-Ray raytracer. Easier said than done considering that its text-based. The most I ever got out of it was a nice set of very shiny rendered balls. Looking at POVComp's hall of fame, though, it appears that others have had more success... and not by submitting balls with bits stuck on either... :-)

In other news, we've been enjoying an utter deluge of quality work into the community gallery recently. In order to cut down the rush of uninspiring photography, however, the forum rules have been altered a tad. Please read them closely, and then we can get back to making this the excellent community into which it seems to be evolving.

erm m0g,

povray is a rendering engine. It is completely useless if you use it on its own. you would have to model some thing in a 3d app and then export it to povray for rendering. And i seriously doubt any one here stands a living hope in winning.

Bet you just don't want any more competition, as you'll be trying for it yourself

But what I was going to say was, yay, go M0g! Your site has skyrocketed as far as forum activity is concerned only since I joined, not that long ago. Fun! This really is a growing community.

Heee, thanks TVPR! I think the forums have been an unexpectedly popular area of this website. I honestly didn't expect to get even one post from another person when I opened them, so every post we get makes me happier and happier.

you lie blodo, you lie badly,

many peices of 3d work look photo real but peopel can achaive these results, you would just have to look at some of the work at ralph.com, its insane!

and as for me trying to enter, i am far to noob to enter that compo.
