Spring 2006 Newsletter Published!

Two releases in one week? Nope, we aren't kidding! Fresh from the press we have just issued the third BioRUST e-newsletter, and it should be in the e-mail boxes of all our registered members right now. If for some reason it doesn't arrive, though, you can also view a local copy over here. Maximum effort has gone into ensuring e-mail client compatability, and I hope that you enjoy our efforts! All comments and feedback will be welcome!

Oh, and in other news, we have bolstered our Downloads Section with a brand new Website Templates category. Its a tad bare at the moment, but we'll be aiming to fill it up with goodies real soon!

I have one layout I was about to use for my own site but didn't need it after all. I just have to turn it to html but it shouldn't take too long. After that you can have it there if you want to.

Well, I was going to say that I didn't ge a copy of the newsletter, but figured I'd check around first. I checked my user profile here, to make sure I didn't unsubscribe, but it's still listed there. Then I checked my spambox that doesn't come through with my regular mail via SpamAssassin. Not only do I have a copy of the newsletter, but I have 2 copies of the newsletter in my spambox. :P I've whitelisted the addy (after I found my missing Winter newsletter), so next time it'll work fine, but here's what SpamAssassin reports. As far as I know, I don't have much control over how it runs, just if it's running or not.

Unfortunately you are right there - our newsletter gives SpamAssassin an utter fit! Part of the problem is that we do forge outlook as the HTML e-mail sender - it has the best universal compatability and displays best (HTML e-mail is an utter MINEFIELD for compatability issues). That said, i'd be more than happy if somebody could suggest a program that could send 15k e-mails from outlook without having to use the dodgy-as-hell outlook HTML e-mail interface!

Maybe I should look into the way that online fitness magazines do it - their newsletters are HTML and don't seem to have nearly as many issues.

As a buddy of mine would say, "Google that s**t down." :P Try this one out. I'm attempting to install/test it myself, but my FTP is having a fit again.

Hmmm.... not a bad idea... but PHP would have a heart attack and die if I asked it to deliver 15,000 newsletters simultaneously. I guess I really need to find a decent list manager...

Test the script out. Enter your email normally at the end and it'll send the example html email to you. The background image is loaded remotely, not stored in the email itself, so your email program may complain and block the image initially.

My webhost has a Mailing list option in the Cpanel. Looks like it's a Python script called Mailman 2.16 that's installed. Basicly just send and email the mailing list email, and it sends it to all the addresses on the list. Here's the link, complete with hot, text-on-text, clicky action.
