Check out my new animated short created using Photoshop & Premiere

My animated short film, "The Depression of Detective Downs", is now online at IFILM.com. I used Adobe Photoshop to paint in all the characters and to create the backgrounds. I then used Adobe Premiere to edit it all together including the video as well as sound.

Even though the film is animated, it's a very character-driven story. It involves a cop named Rolando Downs. Detective downs is having one of the toughest weeks of his life due to automobile problems, financial woes, and the fact that his new partner doesn't stop talking enough to pay attention to anything he says. All this wouldn't be so bad, though, if he didn't also have to solve a kidnapping case while at the same time battling a bad case of depression.

So far the film has won two awards on South Dakota's KDLT during "The Caribou Show" and was shown in Dearborn, Michigan last month at the Reel Life Disability Film Festival. If you decide to check it out, please take time to rate it afterward. You can rate it from 1 to 5 stars. 1 being the least and 5 being the greatest. Hope you enjoy it!

Whoa - really nice work! It touches well on the topic of depression (something I know all too well myself), is well animated, and the 6 minutes passes really quickly! It ends a bit suddenly... but if anything that makes me want more!

Congrats - i'm gonna move this thread to the Announcements forum so its a bit more visible to others..

Thanks

Sorry it took me so long to find this thread and get back to it, but I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. It took a little over a month to write and draw everything and then edit it all together. I was working pretty long hours on it each day so that I could have it finished in time for a short film competition.

Since the last time I posted in this thread the film has won awards for "Best Animated Short" & "Best Out of State Short" in the Caribou Show Film Festival. And just won "3rd Place Animation" in the Macon Georgia Film and Video Festival in April. It has also been shown in different cities on cable television and has been screen in several other Film Festivals.

I'm really glad people appreciate it as much as they do. I wasn't exactly sure how people would react to it back when I first finished it.

By the way, if I keep getting good feedback from people, I might actually start working on a sequel to it that I recently got ideas for. The title might be "The Depression of Detective Downs 2: On Depression's Edge."
