Just a quick change... some people were getting confused by the fact that the reputation system started at 10, which made it kinda difficult to work out how it affected your points. To clarify this little oversight, I have now set the default reputation to 0. Everyone's reputation score has been adjusted accordingly, and the calculation scripts corrected.

Just a friendly warning sabzal: copying and pasting comments out of other people's posts to increase your post count and Biocredits is not looked on kindly here.

I think this is a terrific idea and I wish more sites used this concept! Kudos to the one who made this decision!

Update on 15/Sep/06: The rules (BioCredits System) have been revised to include the new battles system, and rewards for participating, voting, etc.

No CMS - its all coded by hand. We use Vbulletin as a backend for user management, but beyond that its all custom.

I agree that people need to post because they need to post to learn and then the downloads they get will even make it worth while with the knowlege that they got from it.

Possible Bug
Hi,
Great idea to have these credits, however I think I discovered a small bug.
I went to the templates download, and just wanted to view what the template looks like. I figured that the thumbnail would launch a screenshot or something. Instead it launched the zip file. I cancelled out - not wanting to kill a download point, yet it still deducted a point from me. Then I clicked on the title of the template, figuring that it would take me to more info. It launched the download again, and nuked another point. So I am down 2 points and still have not downloaded anything.
Just an observation

I just popped in to grab a gradient Tanguy landscapes offered by Tamlin ,..filled out the profile thing went back to grab the prize andwondered what this credit system was..
How great is it!!!!

You don't need to steal them - just keep posting and you'll soon have more credits than you know what to do with. I'm currently up to 4,715
