Many apologies for the 48-hour server downtime! This time you can blame everything squarely on me - I tried to install Seti@home on the server to use up its spare CPU cycles. I didn't think, of course, that this wasn't such a good idea on a 1U rack with limited heat dissipation capacity. Another lesson learned painfully...
