Improved Integration
As part of my ongoing Biorust improvement drive I am happy to report that forum logins are now fully integrated into our main pages! In time this will allow us to add a commenting system to the tutorials, implement more user-based functionality, and maybe even set up priviledge-based sections, member-only services, etc. At the moment the code is rather messy, but it DOES work, which is a small miracle given my total lack of coding skills. I'm planning to spend the next week tidying up my templates and code - its a messy job, but someone's gotta go it! In the meantime, please report any bugs you find, and even leave development suggestions if you have them - constructive feedback is what this site is all about! :-)
Note: At the moment the linkbase system still uses the old templates. I'll get around to updating them later this weekend...

On the main page it shows 2 users in #Biorust although Rustbot is the only occupant. Now that I think about it, I think it has always been like this.
Also, possible to link "New Posts:" to the actual page showing your new posts? *shrug*

Yeah, the IRC count has a certain degree of lag to it depending on the performance of blitzed.org's servers. The usual lag is something from 10-15mins. In time i'll find a way to connect directly to the bot to eliminate this problem, but its a low priority atm...
Oh, and 'New Posts:' *IS* linked to the page showing new posts/threads! Its a hyperlink - click on it and see!

well done! i noticed my avatar on the main page when i visited it! will there be user rating systems?
if you're worried about spamming, only allow users with 50+ posts to vote or something..

Ahh, maybe it didn't show the link cause at the time there were new posts. I see it now -- thanks.

Well anything is possible! But... what do you mean by 'user rating systems' exactly? I'm always keen for ideas...

right now I am thinking that m0g is looking to bring the forums and the site together, while still maintaining some seperation of order between the two. Biorust V4 is supposed to the new hybrid version of Biorust, and include a more member oriented attitude.
right now, he is slowly working on some smaller features for the site that will allow members to add comments to tutorials, and other interaction features, and it would not be hard to have a tutorial rating system, but would that not allow favoritism over a tutorial. I prefer them to be thought of as equals.

Yup, Order got it in one! I'm gonna avoid adding ratings to the tutorials mainly because it serves no real positive beneft and is open to abuse by competing websites (anyone who remembers the shoutbox in Biorust v2 will appreciate this point). Member commenting is a definate feature that I am working on at the moment, as is an improved downloads system. Any other ideas would be vastly appreciated though...
