Adobe Photoshop CS4 help

So what is this tool called Rotate View Tool? Like you can use it by pressing R on the keyboard.

When I try to use it I get "Could not complete your request because it only works with OpenGL enabled document windows."

I have DX 10.1 support shader model Enables stunning and complex special effects. Next-generation shader architecture delivers faster and smoother gameplay.
4.1 and OpenGL3.0 support. Im currently running windows xp professional. If anyone knows how to fix my problem the answer would be appreciated. Or what is causing this problem? Thanks.

Hi there and welcome to BioRUST.

For the Rotate Tool (and other specific GPU and OpenGL features) to work, you need:
  1. a supported graphics card
  2. to have enabled the OpenGL Drawing option in your Photoshop preferences. Apparently under Windows XP, this is not enabled by default.

Select Edit > Preferences > Performance and ensure that the Enable OpenGL Drawing option is checked:

Is the ATI Radeon hd 4890 ZDEC graphics card supported by it? I know it's one of the high end and one of the newest graphics cards out. Thanks.

Here is the list of display cards that Adobe tested with CS4:

List of tested graphics display cards for Photoshop CS4

You'll see that, although the ATI Radeon 4890 is not on the list, the 4850 (presumably an earlier model) is, so your card should be fine. Note that this list is not exhaustive and just because a card isn't mentioned doesn't mean that it won't work - my card is a nVidia geForce 8400 (not on the list) but it works fine.

Maybe because they didn't update their list or something.

Have you updated Photoshop CS4 to the latest version (11.0.1)?

This may not fix your problem, but I believe that the update was designed to address certain display issues (among other things).
