Unhappy Malboroman's Fire

I made the fire (thanks) but I need help with the rest:

Step 9: Well, that's it for the fire! Feel free to add a layer on top with a few transparent areas if you want a cool flaming text effect.

I'm trying to make something similar to the pic with text at the end of the tutorial. I've search a dozen tutorials but couldn't find anything that would work. It doesn't help tat this is my first day with Photoshop (or any graphic tool).

Thanks in advance!

ok, make a text layer with some words, then make a new layer, fill it a color of your choice.

CTRL + Click on the layer (Layer Palette), then with your filled layer selected, press delete..

Simple way of doing so.

Barring Order's suggestion, you could always click on the little download icon and get the source .PSD! When you know how the effect its constructed, it becomes MUCH easier to modify it to your own ends...
