Hi Mike

Just press F5 to bring up the Brushes palette. There are settings in there to allow you to change all manner of ways that your brush works - including the angle. I can't give you an example at the moment because I'm at work and I don't have Photoshop on this computer, but say if anything's confusing and I'll try to clarify.

As to moving brushstrokes: paint them on a separate transparent layer. You can then use the Move tool to move them wherever you like. You could also use Edit > Transform > Rotate to change the angle after you have painted them.

Hey Mike welcome to Biorust. When I first got the bug to learn Photoshop I went to the local Barns and Noble and purchased a book called teach yourself Photoshop. It proved to be invaluable. If you do this book cover to cover (appx 10 hours) it will give you a great understanding of photoshop and how to use the tools. This, along with help from your new found friends at Biorust will help you tremendously. Good Luck
