Arrow PS Actions Question

I have two actions for adjusting images.

Action #1 shrinks horizontal images to: 500 px wide X whatever height (which will be smaller than 500 px)

Action #2 shrinks vertical images to: whatever width (which will be smaller than 500 px) X 500 px high

What I would like, is One action that would shrink both horizontal & vertical images to fit in a 500 x 500 area (keeping their original proportion). Is this possible?

You can shrink one or the other but unless your picture started out as a perfect square you can't do both and retain the original proportion. You can however shrink both to 500 pxl but it will in all probability change the proportions.

That's exactly the problem I've had ... just wondered if there was another way. Thanks, Koko.

what you could do is have an action that scales down the h or v to 500px, then do another action that would change the canvas size to make up for the missing space.

so for instance you have an image that is 500px by 300px, your 2nd action would change the canvas size to 500px instead of 300px. while adding a background color to your liking, and visa versa for the other orientation...
