How to create this pattern?

I saw a background pattern/texture I really like here used in the header and the footer. But try as might, I can't figure out how it was created.

Any ideas?

I don't see any background pattern on the page you linked to - it just looks like plain black to me.
Any chance you could post an actual image as an example?

I think they're referring to this crisscross background.

what you want to do is rather simple:

1. Create a very small document in photoshop (so that you have )

2. take the line tool with px1 ( you can choose anything you like here, as the space between the lines should be as big as the lines are....so 1px lines should also make 1px spaces)

3. make two diagonal lines that cross eachother in the middle

4. than select all (ctr+click on the layer thumbnail).

5.go to and click "edit>define pattern"

6.use it by adding a layer on top of the "color layer" and go to: "edit>fill" and select you defined pattern.

See not that difficult Have fun!

Actually

It's more complicated than that, Unleash.
The pattern actually looks like this when you zoom in:

Hope that helps, Death

thanks for the -rep....

strange....

I am not able to see that. What I see is just a simple cross pattern. And btw, if you know the basics you can learn the advanged. So if he knows how to make and use a cross pattern, than he can easily change that pattern to something of his liking (rounds....swirls....whatever).

Rep restored.

Plus, the pattern is actually made up of 4 x 4 pixel squares arranged as per the attachment. (I put my glasses on...)
Pattern2 shows it in use (I made the colours grey and black so they'd show up more).

Is that not what the rep is for? Given for helpful posts and taken away for detrimental ones? I haven't been here for a while. Thanks for somehow making mine -9...
Anyway, both of us are correct Tamlin. If you make a pattern stamp from both of our samples, they'll look the same when applied except that mine is black and white for higher contrast.

Negative rep should only be given to posters who are rude, offensive or deliberately unhelpful, not to those who are trying to help (even if you believe them to be in the wrong).
To get back to a "level playing field" I have also restored your rep. Let's all play nice now, OK?
