Constructive Criticism

Hey Everyone,

This is my first post and I am relatively new to Photoshop. I have been going through tutorials from all over the web. This is a pic I have recently done and I wanted some constructive criticism. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

Also, I coulsn't upload the pic, kept getting an error message.

Not bad! Your grasp of the basics is good, but you perhaps need to work a little on the details which make a scene like that believable. Look at your smaller planets for example - they do not have the shadows in the right place in relation to the sun... and they are also seem to 'pop out' of the background, whereas moons would usually be smaller and, therefore, darker than big planets in the foreground.

Oh, and what error did you get BTW? I'm keen to make sure everything works as desired...

Thanks for the reply. I see what you were talking about. Hopefully this took care of some of the issues.

wow, not bad. your doing really well
the one thing i might change would be to add more color to the big planet. its kinda gray with red mountains. i dunno i guess just bumb up the saturation a bit, or go over it with a light air brush

Thanks for the replies. Here is another version. Added a little color to the main planet. Also some land.

The error message was "Page Cannot be Displayed".
I think the pic was too big either in dimensions or file size.

I can't seem to see your image.

One suggestion, though... When you upload an image to the web, make sure there is no spaces in it. Some older browsers have trouble with it, and all those "%20"s confuse people when trying to look at the link.

I see it, I see it! *collapses in shock*

Seriously, though, its coming along very nicely, and looks much better with your corrections. The nearby moons still seem a little bit big to be moons though... unless they are meant to be planets... in which case they are VERY CLOSE. Lol, a catastrophe waiting to happen...

pretty nice work. I would somehow try to add something to the work to contrast and show the depth and distance between the planets. But sorry, I've got no idea how to come along doing that.

Anyways, keep up the good work

Hi Rich! I am new here too so do not listen to me too closely, I am entirely a n00b.

I just wanted to say that it looks like paint on canvas rather then 3-D rendered, was that the intent?

I need the motivation to do something that big.

Good work!
