How to Spray Paint someone Gold?

I'm having trouble finding images of spray painted images of women, more specifically I'm looking for women in bikinis, spray painted gold or silver (Goldfinger style) for a marketing image I'm working on. For what I thought was a common photo, I haven't managed to find anything so I'm now looking for tutorials on how to take a photo and apply this kind of effect.

Does anyone know where I can find such a tutorial or be able to provide some help here?

I know my way around photoshop but wouldn't call myself a talented designer.

Thanks for any help

That's a very good question. I couldn't find a tutorial specifically about painting someone gold but I did find this:
Photoshop Tutorial: Instant Metallic Effect - Digital Camera Reviews & Photography Tips

I adapted it slightly by making a selection of the model's skin only (using Select > Color Range), copying that to a new layer and applying the metallic curve to it (see attachments). You can then experiment with blending the "metallic effect" with the original layer.

I only did this very quick 'n' dirty to see if it would work. Obviously if you take a bit more time and care over it, your results will be far superior.

Well I'm new here but i'm gunna give it a shot lol...

Go to google and find yourself a gold texture or image in the search gallery thing...open it in photoshop applie over your original image, switch layer type to pin light or overlay (varies imo) and manually remove the gold from her clothing and hair eyes and ect. I use the same techniqe for making people look dead...i know im a sick ****

I don't know if this was the effect you were going for, but I found the tutorial at PixelAddiction.com. The hand image is from sxc.hu.

Sorry a little late, but I wanted to try it and see if it would work with skin at all since the tutorial works with a statue. I did the image straight from the instructions and then tweaked the adjustment layers to suit me. The only other thing I had to do different was desaturate the image so the Curves Adjustment worked correctly with the other adjustment layers.

Anyways, if it wasn't what you were looking for, maybe someone else can make use if it.

Yeah, that's good work Outré. The core of this effect seems to be down to the "metallic" Curve, but it can obviously be tweaked and refined to great effect. Like a lot of stuff in Photoshop, it all comes down to experimentation.

That's what I liked about this tutorial was that it used the adjustment layers and you can just play around with it until you get what you like.

Being new to Photoshop graphics it wouldn't have occurred to me to try Curves and all that. I'm a former Paint Shop Pro weenie with all the filters and plugins to prove it.

I know of three of four filters or plugins that might almost make it look like spray paint. But I think I prefer this method because rather than making a glossy gold appearance to the image it looks like spray paint, into the skin cracks and folds with believable contours to the shine.

P.S. I like that one you did Tamlin. It looks like gold lamé to me and I'm working with that to see if I can reproduce your effect for something else I've got in mind. Thanks much

My first thought was to use Photoshop's Chrome filter and then add a Photo Filter adjustment layer to create the gold colour. That almost gave the right effect, but it lost too much skin detail.

Do you have a sample of your "dead" images. I'm curious to see what that looks like, exactly. Thanks much!
