antoher quick thought.
use a square brush. and set the brush spacing for 250% or so. then using the shift key to keep your lines straight, paint a line. the line will come out dashed.

you could also stroke a selection and use the same techneque as an eraser after highliting the newly stroked area. make sure to specify a new layer before stroking tho.

Or you could check out the layer styles, for the stroke, and see if they have the dashed setting. I'm not too sure, but I do know that Illustrator has the dash setting for strokes.

i just checked. and it dosent seem to. however, one could create a 2x2 checkerboard of say around 5 or 10 pixels and maybe use that as a pattern. the only problem with that is getting the pattern to line up properly. and not look checkered in parts.

ok. use the shape maker tool (its probably th erectangle below the text tool)
right click the tool and select the rounded rectangle option.
click and drag to select the area.
right click and select "make selection" with a feather radius of zero
you now have a selection of a rounded corner rectangle.
select edit>stroke> ...... you know the rest.

the shape tool also has a stroke option but it seems to be more of a pain in the butt because i havend found a way to get rid of the underlying shape without converting it to a "selection"

Illustrator has this as a built in feature in the Stroke palette. Create in Illy, save as an AI file and import into Photoshop as a Smart Layer. This will ensure anything you do to the AI file will be harmless as well!
