Assuming you are on windows...
Copy the .TTF to C:\Windows\FONTS
Then look for it on the drop down of fonts in Photoshop.
Good luck and stick around the forums.

Yuneek has given the correct advice! Just follow his instructions and you'll be fine. As a side-note, though, please remember that you CANNOT extract direct from an archive file (.zip, etc) into the \windows\fonts directory. Make sure you unzip them first and THEN copy them across. This is the only gotcha in this very simple procedure. Have fun!

For me, I have to open the windows/fonts, then use File->Install new Font, for it to work, and this is XP SP1a.

Ok I obviously didn't get the memo to save the fonts to disk first and then unzip them. I found about 100 new fonts yesterday and extracted them all to the windows/fonts folder from winzip. I can't find any of the fonts in photoshop of course. So is there anyway to make these fonts appear? Also, I noticed I have two fonts folders, one in windows/fonts and one in winxp/fonts. Can anyone tell me what's up with that? Finally could someone tell me the difference between the different font file types? I have font files with an icon that has a big red a on it, true type files with a big green o on it, and true type files with a big blue t on it.

If cutting and pasting doesn't work then try going into the fonts folder. Click on file and scroll down to "install new font". Installing fonts this way is a little tedious, but I found it works well when fonts you copy and paste don't show up.

Its strange that people tell me I'm suppossed to put all my fonts into the windows/fonts folder. The folder that works for me is the winxp/fonts folder. This is the only folder that I can install new fonts into, as the other folder doesnt have that option. It must be some registry setting that can be changed when you first install your operating system or something. I had a professional install winxp professional for me as I was having problems so I didn't know what all the options were. Anyways, I thought that was strange.

Well, the actual place you are supposed to put your fonts is:
<windows installation dir>/fonts
It seems that your windows professional bloke just reinstalled windows into the /winxp directory of your hard drive, making it the active installation. If you were a pedant you could probably delete/merge your redundant /windows install.... but its more trouble than its worth if you have the hard disk space to spare...
