How to repeat patterns

I saw a closed thread asking how to make seamless repeating patterns like you would see on real fabric and wallpaper and wanted to post a great tutorial resource for making real repeat patterns in Photoshop.

The tutorial shows how to make real repeating patterns, not simple tile repeats and you can make them using Photoshop alone without buying any plug-ins. There is also a repeat pattern tutorial in Illustrator:http://repeatpatterns.com/tutorial_illustrator.php

Thanks ddor, knowing how to make complex repeating designs has been a useful skill for me, but it took a lot of trial and error to learn the best and quickest way. These tutorials are a great shortcut to learning how, and taught me some new tips, also. There is always something new to learn, and it is great to have forums like this to share information.
