Scaling Question

I hope this question doesn't make me appear totally stupid , but I am fairly new to GFX creation.
I have made a couple of desktop wallpapers for someone who wants to post them on their MySpace. How do I scale the wallpapers down to a reasonable size, in a way that allows people to right-click and "save picture as" in the true dimensions [in this case 1024 x 768].
I have downloaded wallpapers from scaled down images, but I have no idea how it was done.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you're using Photoshop, there's a Resize Image option I believe off the Help menu. You enter the dimensions needed.

In Photoshop, select Image > Image Size...

Be aware that drastically resizing an image (either larger or smaller) will have an impact on the quality of the image. The resampling method you choose can help. If you have CS2, I would recommend using Bicubic Sharper if you're making the image smaller, and Bicubic Smoother if you're making it larger.

An alternative method is to select the Crop tool and enter the required dimensions in the Width and Height boxes. When you click and drag, the crop area will be constrained to the dimensions (and, optionally, the resolution) that you have chosen.

Thanks 4 the suggestions! I guess I worded my question wrong. I know how to resize an image. What I was asking is... how do I get an image to be one size for viewing, but still retain it's original scale [like the wallpapers in the gallery], so that when someone wants to download the wallpaper they can zoom to it's true size?

Oh right - if you mean a thumbnail, you need one page with a smaller version of the image (the "thumbnail"). You then hyperlink that thumbnail to your full size image (stored elsewhere on the server). It's pretty basic HTML, but I'm guessing maybe you don't know HTML?
