Photo shop question?

Does any one know were I can get photo shop 7 the full version and how much it would cost ? The one I have now I think Is corrupted or something and I dont have the disk to reload it. Also why is it that people can sell the full version of CS2 for around $300. If everyone is saying its like $600. or more? Am I missing something ? I just dont want to miss up and buy something that isn't the full complete version . Were do you peeps buy your software online?

generally if you buy a full version of CS2 for $300 you are probably only buying an upgrade (or consider the source closely).

I don't know that you'll find it cheaper to buy an older version though. Most people who get rid of older versions of a software title like photoshop are getting rid of it because they upgraded. If that is the case, then it is not legal to use the old version as well as the new version. So you are buying an illegal copy.

Again always consider the source when buying something. Make sure to read all the fine print.

I concur with stiney51, although it is possible to find genuine, full, unregistered copies of older versions of software on sites like eBay. Here are some examples that I found just now:

From eBay.co.uk:
eBay.co.uk: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 7 ( WINDOWS ) COMMERCIAL RETAIL BOXED (item 300078373637 end time 15-Feb-07 16:50:18 GMT)

and from eBay.com:
eBay: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 7.0 - Unregistered (item 330083520677 end time Feb-07-07 20:39:37 PST)

eBay: NIP Unopen Official Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Windows XP (item 230089145076 end time Feb-13-07 19:36:38 PST)

As with anything on eBay, of course, it's caveat emptor!

PS CS is actually PS Version 8. CS2 is Version 9 (and CS3 will be Version 10).

With version 10 (CS3) on the horizon, you may start to see some of the stocking dealers offer a lower price to move CS2 packages. I doubt that it will be half price though..

If you have a legit version of PS 7, you may be able to download the CS3 Beta (Which I have not yet done)

tamlin: Have you seen the Adobe Photoshop LightRoom yet?

No I haven't looked at LightRoom yet. I downloaded the CS3 Beta a few days ago but I've only opened it a couple of times and had a brief look around. There seems to be a slight difference to the interface but apart from that, not much else of interest to me - I don't think I'll be rushing to upgrade.
