Text Along A Tube
HELP!
Thanks, does anyone know how to make text (in illustrator or photoshop) along a cylindrical path?
The text must take on a uniform ribbon feature along a tube or cylinder.

in illustrator: make a path with your pen tool or whatever...
then with your text tool if you click ON the path it should just conform to that, or you can just click and hold down the text icon to get more options (in your tool bar on the left side of the workspace) and choose the text on path option...

I may be missing the point here (it has been known...), but isn't "cylindrical path" an oxymoron? Paths (in Illustrator and Photoshop, at least) are 2-dimensional objects and a cylinder is a 3-dimensional object.

not sure...it's hard to tell when the person doesn't respond to let us know if it works or we are all way off base.
but he did ask about the text tool, and paths...so that's what i answered, if he wants to make it 3d, and have he'll have to mask out the parts where the ribbon/text goes behind his cylinder to give it a more of a 3d feel...but he didn't ask for that part :P just the text
but it's hard to tell, they need to invent dynmic fonts for different tones of voice, like sarcasta-font, or confuseda-font or something, cuz I could really use the confuseda-font right about now...

That's one of my pet peeves - someone posts a question, a bunch of people go out of their way to offer help and advice, and then...nothing. Makes you almost ask "Why bother?"

That sounds like a great idea - maybe we should designate Times New Roman as "confudseda-font" and Comic Sans MS as "sarcasta-font".

The fact that a few generous and skilled professionals like yourselves take the time to respond to questions such as these have helped me countless times in the past. Someone will post a question and never return, but the answers are there for me when I have the same question... and I am always grateful!
So on behalf all of us who have found helpful advice and not communicated that we are thankful, I thank you!
Mike.
