Complex Shapes

I need to make complex shapes like Baroque style painting frames, what would be the best way to perform and execute this? I have a good knowledge of photoshop and know my way around the prgram, but i have no idea how to create complex shapes. thanks.

I prefer to create shapes in Illustrator or Corel Draw since I think it's easier in those programs compared to Photoshop. You can export out of those programs and then do what you want with the shapes in Photoshop.

I agree with using corel draw or some other vector drawing software is better. There is a way to get the shapes that you can use and that is looking at some fonts, just turn them into shapes and use pattern or hand manipulate. There are so many fonts out there that seem more towards patterns than actual fonts. If you don't have Corel or Illustrator try downloading free Serif draw 4, or Inkscape, both are free and its a start.

Hope it helps, I find there are so many ways to achieve the same goal it gets confusing sometimes.

if you only have Photoshop like me, use the pen tool. A quick Google search will find you a load of tuts. And there are some on this site.

you could also try deviantart.com for the shapes you need i got some nice frames from there but beware ask permission from who made them as nearly everything has a copyright at deviantart, just type in frames /resources, or just shapes.worth a try
