Banner Tutorial

Does anyone have a link to a tutorial for how to make graphics like this one:

Not exactly the same, just in that style, I see a lot of them on forums and stuff. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure if you learn how to work with a graphics package(photoshop my favourite), you'll learn how to do that.
That "banner" is not that hard to do, but you MUST know how to use the basic tools. If you know the basics, reply and I'll help you.

Good luck

It's a bit small to tell for sure, but it looks simple enough. The background appears to have a gradient overlay and some sort of meshlike pattern overlay. The turntable (or whatever it is) looks to be an extracted image on another layer. The type looks like a standard sort of rounded font with a black stroke style applied to it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think that was a bad example. This is more what I want.

I know the basics so I could probably try and make it, I'm just not sure on that white transparent sheen at the top.

That's easy:
  1. Make a new, transparent layer above your image.
  2. Use your favourite selection tool to select the area that you want to be translucent.
  3. Fill with white.
  4. Lower opacity of layer to about 40%

Alternatively, you could do a fancier version by applying a white-to-transparent gradient to the top layer.

Yep. That's that. But the userbar designer also gives many good ideas.
