That may help you, although its not a shape but its letters but same concept. Just like how you would make a brush except your defining the brush

Complicated? I prefer "excitingly challenging". Do tutorials. I know that you probably say "hey i don't want tutorials 'cause i want to be original". But if u don't to them u won't be anything. Tutorials teach u something that u can apply later on in a different context or combining stuff. Tutorials rullz

I learned most of what I know about Photoshop by:

1. Experimentation and trial & error.
2. Reading books.

But you can't dismiss tutorials - I've also learned a few good tips and tricks from them.

I used paintshop pro before jumping to photoshop7 (i'm on CS2 now), and I never used a tutorial until I was pretty well familiar with photoshop. it's very intuitive and i didn't know tutorials existed (I was on dial-up, come on!). I learned all the functions by my self, but I'm one of those people who hate asking for help... I did read up on tutorials afterwards, but most of the stuff either didn't apply to the art I do or I already knew. two notable exceptions: displacement maps (they are so amazing <3) and lightning.
I jumped to 3d recently, and I must say that blender is the one program that it is literally impossible to learn without tuts

You maybelive and not belive what you want. But till today i cant remember to ever have done a tutorial. Well i've created few, but not followed tuts made by others. And just cuz 99% has used tuts, doesn't mean, that 1% has.
