Plug in for making Cartoon Game Textures?

Hi

I make game rendering txtrs for online worlds but need to make some real cartoon stuff like youd see on say Simpons.
Walls with windows trees etc..

I am more trained towards making photorealistic textures so I find this stuff hard

Ive tried Kodac Share software with the 1 click photo to cartoon but its limited by the 1 click and ive tried various filters in PS but nothing is that cool.

Is there a specific plug in I can make a brick wall look like a cartoon brick wall?

Or better still know any exsisting cartoon game textures?

Thanks in advance

Most cartoons textures are hand drawn to be cartoon textures. I think if you want to paint you own use bold colours and a darker variant of the colour for shading.

Cell shading can be cool too but i guess its not too usefull if you need actually textures.

I would recommend the total textures CD's 14 and 15 from 3D Total - The cg artists home page if you want to work from those. They are very good value.

why would you use textures for a cartoon style? most cartoon-style renders are done with shaders, not textures. *scratches head* if it's for a game, you probably want to paint the shadowed surfaces a bit darker, but otherwise use flat colors and simple patterns. you need to paint the shadows on beforehand because the light-rendering system in games is usually weak because of the speed requirement, and it would look funny if you didn't paint the shadows on. I don't do games; this is just what i read in another forum.

hey roseenglish, what kind of game is it?

are you using a 3d gaming engine? or is it more of a web browser type game? once you can elaborate a little more, we can help you out a bit more...

if the game is using a 3d gaming engine, most of those have the capability to create the cell shading look for you, for example check out the video game "thirteen" here's a link XIII-the-game Official site

but even a lot of the textures you see there are just hand painted.

...the more we know the more we can help you out
