I have tried the same thing in layer styles, but haven't come close as to what can be accomplished by using photoshops other features. I have some contours that I created that make a gloss look, but again, may not be quite as good as what you are looking for. If you are interested in them, drop me a line and I will send them to you to experiment with.

Until then, here are a couple of tutorials on how to create that effect. (Some of these actually have a more realistic gloss look than your example.)

I tried to pick a wide variety. Hope these help.

what i seem to do is, duplicate the layer i want to be glossified. I then give this new layer some zoom radial blur. I then set this layer to screen. I then give this layer some FILTER>SKETCH>CHROME. It does the job real nice.

that is actually a very nice selection of tutorials on how to make glossy effects lexiblue. My method seems to only work with a lot of modifications but it does produce a nice effect.

I played around in photoshop using your technique. I got some pretty cool effects. Thanks for sharing how you do it, I would never have thought to use that combination of options. I like learning from you guys.
