You can store your brushes (ABR files) anywhere on your hard disk - just make a new folder as you would for any other files - but be aware that if you store them anywhere other than the default location (typically C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop xx\Presets\Brushes where xx is your version of Photoshop), they will not show up automatically in your list of brushes. You will need to load them as and when you need them.

How can you load your brushes into the default location? This is the same problem I'm having. I tried loading them into the "Default Brush" library but they seem to erase once another library is clicked on.

append brushes instead of loading them. if you don't feel like browsing, save your brushes to the photoshop brushes folder and they will show up, just don't use the same name. I think your problem is that you didn't save the abr file yet. first, make the brush, then click 'create new preset' and name it. after you have a nice collection, go to the brush presets manager, and select all the brushes you want to save into that file. click 'save set' and save. whenever you need it, it'll be there, even if the individual brushes in your palette get deleted. hope this helps.
