Need help with Lens Flare

Ok, I'm still getting familiar with all the abilities that Adobe Photoshop has, and the thing I've been wondering for a while now is how to be able to use Renders: Lens Flare / Lighting Effects. The problem is that it's disabled in the menu, so it's probably some image / layer setup that I need to change / set to get it working?

Thanks for any help beforehand :-]

If I only knew how I've done it
I have a bad habit of clicking buttons I'm not supposed to click and that usually has a good or a bad outcome, this time it wasn't obviously so good :-]

A couple of things to consider:

1. You can't use Lens Flare or Lighting Effects on an empty layer.

2. Both the above filters are disabled for some image modes - grayscale, CMYK and Lab color, for example. Lighting Effects is also disabled for RGB images with both 16 and 32 bit-depths. Is your image 8-bit RGB?

Ah, thanks a lot, was using CMYK, so that was the thing disabling it. Works like a charm with RGB. Thanks a lot :-]
