Action?

Ok, I've been using Photoshop for a couple of years now, and I am overwhelmed by all the things that you can do with this program. Can someone please explain Actions to me? From what I've seen here they look like something that I really need to get familiar with.

Actions are nice because they save you time. You can create one by recording certain steps you take and then saving it as an action. That way if you ever need to go through those steps again you can just play the action. I have an example of one at Jacorre Design Studio - Tutorials - 110% Image Resample Macro.

i've never really experimented with actions before, i think i'm gonna start playing around with them though.
