Wireframe effect...

Hi again...
I'd like to get an effect similar to this:
http://www.realsoft.com/

I can't use any 3d soft, so I would like to try to do something similar in photoshop (i'd like to do the wireframe effect mixed to the normal shape)...
any tricks?

I'm assuming you're talking about the effect on the pocket knife.

Here are two tutorials for grids:

http://www.bluesfear.com/tutorials/3Dgrid.htm

Hope that helps you.

I've just read the tuts...
I already knew how to build a grid, but I don't know how to "wrap" it around an object/person...
Please don't say it's not possible with photoshop or i'll climb my desk and dive with my head on the floor.

Hmmmm, im not aware of any online tutorial about this, but there's a few tutorials on the effect (and variants thereof) in the 'New masters of Photoshop' book.

wireframe effect is usually accomplished by using a 3D program. You render the image normally and then either render with wireframes only or do a screen capture.

Then you use layer effects in Photoshop to blend the two. Here is a quick example:

yep 3d realsoft has very good wireframe rendering. I use a wire frame all the time it is mainly to prove that you made the 3d model. I would highly recommend starting 3d, since most 3d renders can do this. It will also push your work to the next level.

photoshop on the other hand really cant do this unless you mainly draw all the lines in where you think there is a contour, hope that helped.

You said it right...
I'm trying to pick a good 3d program wich is not that hard to learn...
...
I remember about a tutorial to "paint cars"...
E.g. if you have a logo or something there was a trick that allowed the logo to be "printed" on the car following lights and shadows... I thought existed something similar for a grid to obtain the wireframe effect on objects...

i would really only use a 3d porrgy for work like that. Start reading 3d magazines and they should supply you with some free software which should do. I discovered realsoft through a cd, i loved it so much after a month i went out and bought it.
