Text Manipulation

Is their a way (plug-in/tutorial ... etc) in PS CS to bend/manipulate text just like what "Warp Text" does, but with a lot more control?

Thanks!

I would use Illustrator in terms of more control. that way you can edit the text as a vector graphic (more control) before moving it into photoshop.

My previous response came too quickly. I guess I didn't read the last part of your post :-)

as a text, you can do some transformations.however, once you raterize it, you can use all the transformations available which can be found by edit > transform > select-whichever-you-want

the rest is for yourself to find out.nobody can actually tell you precisely which transformation is for which...they all bend the image in the end.

Manipulating text is easier in other programs. For example, Illustrator has some options. I have tutorials on how to distort text as well as rotate individual characters.

Thanks for your responses! I guess I'm going to have to knuckle down and learn Illlustrator. :: shiver :: I really don't like the idea, but PS has it's limitations.

I'm heading over to the Illustrator section and post a list of stupid noob questions.

I think Photoshop cs 2 have some more opportunities to bend and wrap text. I heard from many grateful designers. You can even bend the text round a cylinder. But I prefer to keep to my old Ps cs1, so I have no experience. Not yet!

Thanks Kenneth, I'll check that out. If CS2 will do the job, then it's worth the update for me.

Yes, Kenneth is right: as well as the familiar Warp Text feature, CS2 has a new Warp option in the Edit > Transform sub-menu.
You have to rasterize your text first if you want to use this feature on type, but once you do, you can pull it every which way (see attached image).
