Welcome to BioRUST. From time to time I have had that same problem. I apparently combined a sequence of keystrokes that toggled my type tool into a very wierd mode. No matter what I did I was unable to undo or correct the problem. Reinstalling the program was the only thing that solved the problem. But, before you do that, wait and see if anyone else can offer you a better solution. Good luck!

There was a very similar thread to this on the forum before the server crashed - I think it was one of those that was unrecoverable. Anyhow, the upshot was that I did a search for this problem on Google Groups. I only found one thread where someone was having a similar problem (and that was back in 2004). He was using Photoshop Elements, but he had the same problem you describe.

Unfortunately, no one was able to offer a definite solution (unless it got fixed and he didn't post the fix), but if you read through the thread you'll see there are a few things to try. Particularly interesting is the comment that the problem went away when he was running the computer in Safe Mode, which makes me wonder if the fault is in the operating system and not specifically in Photoshop?

Anyhow, here's the link: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/ado...c030bb01300ecf

Hope you get it sorted.

PS: I was able to open your file and add text with no problem, so it's not your document that's at fault.

Deleting preferences would also help. Try it before reinstalling the whole program.

Launch Photoshop, then hold down Ctrl+Shift+Alt as it's starting up.

A message box will appear asking if you want to delete the settings file. Click Yes.

You have to be quick pressing the key combo as the application is starting up, so you might have to try it a few times before you get it to work.

Have you tried it with your computer running in Safe Mode? (Press F5 as it's starting up, before it loads Windows)
