Question Photoshop Elements 2.0

I was getting an error message when trying to open my Photoshop Elements 2.0 (currently running tiger 10.4.06) so decided to trash it and reinstall.
Ooops! When I stowed my CD Install disk, I through away the original wrap. Well, what I mean is I don't have the serial number it asks for.
I took the application out of the trash put it on my desktop and while it was trying to open I saw my name at the bottom with a very long number under it. Thinking that was the serial number I put the old version back in the trash and tried to install again but when I put the number in the spaces it didn't seem to be enough numbers.
Question how can I find out the serial number it wants to reinstall?
or am I just out of luck?
