Not bad, I'm not sure how the spade (I think its a spade) represents you, Dart, but its not too bad. The black space around it, there is too much, no need for it, it never gets used.

A good start, but the whole piece needs a bit more animation really. How about a background that morphs in a plasma-esque style and a brighter spade?

pretty good dude.
I was always scared of using imageready and have never really use it since. I prefer using a 3d modeller for animation. Heres a little scramble of what you can make with a 3d program
www.liquidreality-design.co.uk/5-02.gif
this is basically a 3d plasma ball exploding into tiny little peices. It is also very easy to make. It took about 5 minutes to do, then about two hours to render.

Wow, thats awesome 5-0! I didn't know 3d programs could do that kind of stuff. I have flash, but have never sat down and actually made something in it. It seems so complicated. Thanks for the tips guys. If I knew how to use flash, I would make it a lot better. Imageready does have its limits.

I've turned off the avatar until I have a chance to improve it. What 3D program do you recommend?

OOOOh, now thats a very wide-ranging question, and if you ask a dozen different people you'll get a dozen different answers! In my experience, the best 3D programs are 3DS-Max, Maya, and Realsoft 3D. All of them are pretty difficult to use, but the rewards are well worth it in the end. I mean, just look at 5-0's and R4z0r's work!

Hornet said that a good freeware one is blender. http://www.blender3d.org/ i tried it out myself, and although i don't want to get into learning a 3D program at the moment, i'll probably start with it when I decide to.

yes they are very hard and intimidating at the start. you eventually get used to them and you start to think that they are really easy and it is so rewarding just to see the great work that you can produce. My abstarcts are usually about 10 minutes of 3d modelling maximum. Even if you just use it to help you make abstracts it will make you abstracts look much better than filter whored photoshop ones.
