struggle with type tool

for some reason i can't get my type tool to work

if i select an area to type in... and i type... i don't see any letters or whatever...

what could be wrong?

I had that once. Have you rebooted since it started? That cleared it up for me.

the pc... photoshop? eer... i'm having this problem for a while now... about a couple of weeks

Would you please take a screenshot to your workspace. That would help us to see what's wrong. Make it so, that we can see all your option palettes.
Sometimes deleting the Photoshop preferences will help too.

This has happened to me, recently, as well.
I don't know what the problem is, but choosing the font color after selecting the type tool and clicking in the image solves it (for me).
It doesn't seem to matter what colors I have chosen, before-hand - what I type is always transparent until I re-choose the color.
