Way newe to PS, need help!

OK, I started a message board and need a logo for it. I drew the logo up with good ole fashioned pencil and paper, took a digicam pic of it, and its in my computer. How in the world do I start to make it a digital image?? I like the font I drew, just not exactly sure what the heck I'm doing with PS, LOL Heres the logo: Logo

Open the photo in PS then make a new layer and trace over it. you can then fill it in with whatever colors you want. does that make sense?

Here's what I came up with.
