I don't usually read the manuals. I referred to the Photoshop Help browser thing the first week I was learn.
I to am a self learner. I taught Photoshop to myself rather quickly, I've only had it 2-3 months.

I'm a really fast learner. I taught myself both HTML and Photoshop.
My motto: If you want to do something, you can.
Basically I really wanted to learn Photoshop so I taught myself.

I want to learn a lot of stuff, but have a hard time learning it.. I know most of PS7, but I think creativity is where I'm lost..

Heh, I prefer to teach myself on a lot of subjects. I feel I know it a little better.
In Photoshop, most of my good work comes out when I'm bored from school and I just get on the computer. I do some wacky stuff while listening to a TV or a CD/Radio and I just mess around. Then suddenly amazing art appears! It's like.... hallejuah!!
lol, but my good art is from experimenting and just going crazy with the program.
It's supposed to be fun working with Photoshop. If it makes you frustrated just take a few days to a week off with it.

lol, I can see that. Anyway, I think I will play around with it in the next couple of weeks seeing as I just bought a PS7 Book. But I want to finish my HTML / XHTML one fist, then PS7 and then Javascript. After hose 3 are complete (probably a month) I will re-design my site which will show plainly how much I really learned from them, and will help me decide what books to purchase next.

Well, if you need a book that goes beyond the basics (i.e. describes the tools in mindnumbing detail for 3/4 of the book), I highly recommend the Down and Dirty Tricks book and, of course, the Photoshop WOW book. They'll both teach you how to create specific effects, and really operate a lot like my tutorials, but in a bound format. Unlike most books, they also remain quite useful once you've finished reading them, as you can go back to find info on a specific effect, etc. They come highly recommended from me... If you can learn well from books, of course...
