Using Pen Tool

i'm having trouble using the pen tool... i just don't know how to make those nice round curves and then make a stroke out of it... thank you in advance

I listed below some sites you should check out. Making the nice round curves is mostly a matter of practice and learning where to place everything. But remember that even after you have the placement you can go back with the direct selection tool and move things around or even make a deletion.

Im the same way.. im trying to do vectors but i need to get hang of the pen tool first.. working with photoshop for a few years.. ive never touched the pen tool at all.. sounds pathetic but ill check those sites out also.. thanks

I don't know why so many people think the pen tool is some sort of booger bear or evil demon, but it really isn't. The pen tool is your friend. It will help you create some truly beautiful works of art. The learning curve is not high and is worth the effort. Once you get the hang of it you won't forget it, just like riding a bike.

Haha, the pen tool is evil =\ (Maybe if I knew how to use it it wouldn't be so scary..)
Anyway, I'm gonna go check out those sites now so maybe one day it'll be my friend too!

As for how to make it curve: when placing a control point, click and hold, then drag away from the point. This will give you a little handle on the control point that you can use to control the curve. It takes practice to know which direction to drag in to get the curve going in the direction you want.
