8.0 User Slightly Baffled by CS2.....
Hi, I upgraded to CS2, but now I can't simply hold CTRL+double click in the Layers window to select that particular layer anymore. When I do that in CS2, it opens up the Layer Properties window. Can someone tell me the new method, if there is one?
I just want to select everything on a particular layer, regardless of color or content. Thanks!!

Hi there, I don't have CS2, but, from I have read and heard I think that what your looking for may be part of what they call Smart Objects. Have you read about that yet? Adobe website has a great shortcut key pdf available for download, there are 4 pages, have you checked that out?

I haven't actually. But because I'm short on time, I was hoping to get a quick answer..... I'll be sure to read that once I have the time, but for now, does anybody have the quick answer? So far, I'm having to set my magic wand marquee to a tolerance of 255 to select (hopefully) everything on that layer. Yuck.

I don't use CS2 myself, but isn't it just ctrl+single click?
Otherwise you could also use ctrl+a to select everything on that layer.

No, you can't CTRL+single click anymore. That's the problem!!! It's so frusterating!! I could CTRL+A, but then it selects the WHOLE layer, when all I want to do is have the program 'marquee' around a specific object in that layer. I mean, I want to select everything, and CTRL+a will work, but sometimes I want to do what I'm describing.
Drat.

LOL! Ahhh, this issue perplexed me for AGES too before I found the amazingly simple solution. With CS you now need to CTRL+Click the little thumbnail to the left of the layer name... and nowhere else. That'll solve your problem!
