How did this guy do this??

Ok.. howd this guy do these lines.. on the edge of his layout.. the border.. Ive done it once before and forgot how i did it.. I tried using the smuge tool and use a gradient and it just dosent look like how I had it.. http://www.ranoo.com/blog/img/2/final.jpg look in the corners, how it like fades out like that.. looks like a triangle then fades?? I had something like that before and for the life of me I cant do it again.. anybody can help me out?? i appreciate it..

Maby try to use the ereaser tool with soft brush and opacity. maby opacity 15 and I allways use 40 on flow.

Seems to me the gradient is the way to go.

Pen tool to make the little squares, custom shape tool to make the triangles, gradient over the top from white to the background color.

yep. I opened the other layout I had.. and I figured it out.. and I was like holy ****! so easy! it was a gradient.. sometimes I go mental and I forgot.. thanks bub and cerenza..

Eraser? That's the crappy slow bad way to do it... lol.

Now, combining the eraser with the select tool and the feather tool... THAT's how you get the best results in the easiest way Completely smooth transitions of opacity.

Thanks for the idea about the feathered selection and eraser! The ability to combine things is PSCS2 always keeps surprising me - though by this time I should be used to it.

nah... best way for smooth opacity is a layer mask and a black to clear gradient
