help with a sunrise...please!

Hi everyone, i'm new to this, so please bear with me....
I have an image of a sunset which i need to re-create in photoshop. I have definitely made some good progress (i hope!) but have got stuck with trying to re-create the sun rising over the mountains. Can anyone help? Hopefully these are the correct links to the images. The first one is what i've created so far, the second is what i'm trying to achieve. The biggest obstacle is re-creating the impact of the sun. if there's a tutorial out there that can help, i'd be very grateful!!
Thanks
dave

Hmmmm. Recreating the full majesty and subtle nuances of nature is always difficult! My advice is to just use lots of layers with gradients for the light pouring out from the sun (at low opacity, of course). You can always create the sun itself with http://dawnofdesign.info/dod_tut_sun.htm - I'm sure it could be modified to give you a really bright sun if that is what you desire...

um, I will have to say that that tutorial will not do for that style. I would show you a link to a tutorial, but I cant find it anymore. Just make a white circle, duplicate it three times, blur-Gaussian one really big (like20-50 depending on the size.) The next one you should blur it again (select the layer then ctrl-alt-f) and put the blur at around half of the first one. I got something like what you sound like you are looking for. For added realism, add a green inner glow at 10% opacity.

Ahhh, that'll work too! Don't forget to add a few solar rays from the sun, though... and maybe a slight glare, or it'll look artificial.
