My Photoshop Logo is Lost! (solved)

Hello,
I don't know what to do. The artist that created my logo lost the file when
her hard dive crashed! I only have a gif and jpg to work with. I don't know
if it's possible to recreate the logo, and save it in Photoshop.

She uses a Mac, I have Windows. can anyone tell me how I can recreate
the layers (logo and background)? Or am I pretty much screwed?

I've attached my logo. (I'm not sure if the file is too big)

Many thanks,
Rick

Is that an actual font or did she make the text too?
Did she use any externel files?

I think she created the font. I'm not sure. She's extremly hard to get ahold of.
I tried removing the black background, but the result looks pretty ratty.
Any way I can do this? I'm a beginner in Photoshop.

Many thanks again,
Rick

The text effect is a metal effect (http://biorust.com/tutorials/detail/19/en/) with no textures, a simple 'peak' gloss contour, and a high bevel value. The colors can be added by simply adding a low opacity color overlay (also in layer effects). I can't help you with the font though - you'll have to find a font that looks similar, and that may take a while... :/

Thanks Man1c M0g,
I guess I am screwed. My graphics person told me the logo was created
on a Mac with plugins that only work with a Mac.

Thanks for your advice!

Thanks aldog,
I got the background removed, and I'll have to change it to a PNG 24
as they look best in the Flash program I use. I need to know how to
resize the graphic (it's pretty big in size & file kb's) I need to get it
at least 500 pixels wide.

How would I go about reducing the actual size and file kb's. Please
remember I'm fairly new to Photoshop, so if someone could 'splain
it in English, I'd appreceate it!

Many thanks,
Rick

Image -> Image Size -> Change the width to 500, select pixels. -> Ok -> File -> Save image... Select PNG in the drop down box and name it something -- hit save.

Bub,
Thanks for the reply. If I resize, it doesn't change the file size does it?
It's an awfully big file.

Many thanks,
Rick

It will change the size a good bit due to the major reduction of pixels in the image.
