Thumbs up Need help with getting dug in metel text.

I'm really sorry that my first post is a question, but I am a relative newb at photoshop, but your tutorials are amazing, much better than anywhere else on the net, well done, and good luck in the future

Now, Iv'e created a brushed metal effect on to a gradient bar, but i want to get a font thatlooks metalic, but has that effect of being cut into the metel, or i would need some help making that effect with filters,

Thanks guys, again sorry for my first post being a n00b question.

i don't know what font exactly to use, but once you find a good one, to get that effect of being cut look try rightclicking on your text layer and going to blending options and playing around with the inner shadow settings.
hope this helps.

An easy way of doing this is creating the text layer and then applying a layer style.

For the settings, reduce your Fill Opacity to 0% (note: this is not the normal opacity slider. It is below the normal opacity slider). Then put on an outerglow of white and mess with the settings. Next apply an inner shadow of black and mess with those. If you want you could also try a stroke or add a ligth colored drop shadow.

The main point is to mess around in layer styles and you can make tons of effects. Just experiment.

edit: A few seconds late on my part, lol.
