Moving around the image using shortcut keys

I always have trouble moving around an image after I zoomed it in really close & while I'm in the middle of selecting

Is there shortcut keys to move left/right or up/down while the mouse is busy with the selection tool (that it can't be used to scroll up & down or left & right) ?

If you press and hold the space bar your curser will turn into a little hand and you can just grab the image and slide it around. Return your curser to the area you are working on and release the spacebar. You will still be in the middle of your selection.
