OK, i have my layout and my banner but they are 2 different graphics, so i was wondering: Is there a way to put them together? I havent tried fadeing them together but id think it will only do the layer i have selected....... anyways, if theres a way to fuse them together, and anyone knows it, could u plz help me out here??

Thanks Much!,

I believe "fading" them together is the best way. Have each image in seperate layers. Lower the opacity of the top layer until you can see the lower layer how ever much you'd like to see it.

if they're on seperate layers put the banner above the other in the layers pallete and push ctrl+e. if this isn't your proble, you need to explain it better.

If you're going to merge layers with ctrl+e make sure you've linked the layers you want to merge together. Otherwise the whole document will be flattened.

that's not how photoshop has ever worked for me, and i don't recall ever playing with the settings like that. i use crtl+e @ home and it 'merges down' as the menu says, and i use ctrl+e @ school and i know i haven't touched those preferences because i keep forgetting to boost up the history number and i use crtl+e quite often.

both layers have to be rasterized of course. maybe if you try to merge down a text/shape element it flattens everything, but i never try doing that, so i can't say. but i know for sure 2 raster layers should merge down.

ALSO i'm using both ps 7 and CS so it shouldn't be a version thing.

Yeh ctrl+e merges all the layers its just if you're working with say 3 layers and you only want to merge 2 then you link those two together and hit ctrl+e.

Are you trying to merge them on to the same layer or are both graphics in seperate images or are both graphics in different programs.

If they are in the same image already and you want them on the same layer simply use any of the merge techniques that seems appropriate. if you want to leave them available to edit seperately just do a save as (jpeg, tiff, gif, whatever).

If they are in seperate images, open your banner image and click file>place to import the other image.

If they are in seperate programs you will first have to save them to the same type (psd, jpeg, etc.) of image then do the above.

If you could post the images I would be happy to help.

Actually ctrl+e merges all visible layers. Any layer with the little eye icon turned off will not merge.

CTRL + Shift + E merges all visible layers.
CTRL + E merges all linked layers.
