Question Shadows and Highlights

I need to know "How to preserve the highlights and shadows of the image and color the image manually or using fill tool or may be gradient tool"

I just thought converting the image to grayscale........and coloring it manually can be one option................but it is indeed time consuming.
And in some cases not practical at all!

Please help me!

I don't think using the fill tool would be practical at all, I'm sure it's possible but it would probably be as time consuming as colouring it manually. I'm no expert but I think doing it manually is the best way to go, you'll get the best results. If you have a wacom tablet it shouldn't be to hard, just create a new layer on top of the image and paint over it with a low opacity brush. The results should be worth it.

I don't know if I've been any help thats just the way I'd set about the project. Good luck

Smile Still confused...but glad for the post

Hey onbrid thanks for such a quick reply.....
Actually I am new to forums and stuff and wasn't expecting reply......

A wacom tablet is out of my reach...but I'll keep in mind for future use.

It doesn't seem to have my problem......!

Actually, if you can tell me........how I can create the image that Photoshop cs guys have created for their About section in the Photoshop software.......it will help me handle the situation I am stuck into.

Please I'm looking forward to the reply with some solution.

I also wonder if the gradient map in the new adjustment layer can do some trick to take one step in solving the problem.....?

Anyways I'll surely experiment with it.

Thanks again for your post......!

Some other companies make design tablets that are at more affordable prices. Before I bought my Intuos 2 I had one of these I think its about £15. It wasn't quite the same quality as a wacom but it still did the job well. Wacom prices can be steep but went the tablet arrives it's worth it. Sorry I don't have time to look at your problem at the moment, I'll check it out as soon as I get the chance.

I know I'm digging up an old thread here, but the best way to do this would be to change the mode of the fill/gradient tool to "color" and the use it just like you would normally. You may also want to try the "hue" mode as well.
