Slicing takes a large image like an interface for a website and cuts it into small usable images, making web design possible

If youre determined you can cut out a layout using crop and undo

Thats how i made my first layout, coz i didnt have the slightest idea about what is slicing.

basicly slicing helps you out with codeing your site easier and helps you to make more space. to use it you need image ready

Its not an effect its a tool. It helps you place the layout into basic html. Like layouts on pages dont usually come as one big picture, they come in a few, which are then positioned to form a seamless look. Thats were you can see photoshops contribution to the site.

You can use slicing for layouts or skins for winamp or w/e
